Why do I write this?

Almost done and ...

I have nearly completed the massive document I've been working on. Nearly. There's not much more to do.
Well that's not true; there's a lot more to do. But compared to what's already been done it's not that much.

The trouble is I've run out of 'oomph'. I look at what needs doing, and find a thousand other things to do instead. Burn out. Writer's block. Call it what you will. I can't even bring myself to open the file, which will now have to be reviewed from the beginning of the incomplete segment. And then there's another partially completed segment after that. Bleah.

Some of this is probably due to anticipating the let-down that comes with completion. "There, that's done!" - the writing equivalent of having eaten a great dinner and now being faced with the washing up. Or having to eat leftovers for a week. Similar, anyway.

Fortunately there is no one paying me for this and thus no one breathing down my neck and asking "have you got it done yet?" over and over. Even so, I need to stop myself from thinking about the next project (I 'snuck off' and did two small 'side jobs' already - which I did complete). I've got to get on with it, and knowing that is not exciting me for doing so.
