Almost lost a friend.
This is about Imitation Intelligence again, so click away if that bothers you.
Someone I know was justifying (possibly to themselves) their use of II in writing, comparing it to talking with a friend.
I immediately thought of asking them "What if your friend was an illiterate moron? Would you seek their input then?" But I didn't.
I also might have asked "What if your friend was a manipulative bastard?" But I didn't.
Or the question could have been "What if your friend was going to take your work and claim it as their own?" I didn't ask that either.
Of course I could have asked "What if your friend was a spy looking to steal your knowledge and pass it on to an enemy agent?" Again, I remained silent.
If their friend was any of these they might not have known (except for the illiterate moron; that should be obvious). The thing is, with II we know it is all of these things.
Imitation Intelligence is NOT your friend.
