Are there fewer posts on all platforms?
Is it just me, or is everyone cutting down on their use of the Internet these days? Maybe all real 'content providers' are being displaced by AI Slop Farms, or maybe people are really struggling to make a go of it.
As the platforms demand more and more content generation (while paying out less, as I understand it) it becomes difficult for people who produce anything of substance to produce anything of substance. We see more 'collaborations' wherein one session of brainstorming can become multiple Yutztube videos, social media posts, and podcasts all through the dint of editing that each individual would have to do anyway.
Perhaps the problem lies in the declining viewership/engagement. Are we all getting sick of seeing the same thing reiterated? Are we tired of the platforms in general? Are more people turning away from the Internet as a whole? Or perhaps just specific aspects of it (yeah, you know which ones I mean).
I can't quite put my finger on it, but I have this sense that things are winding down. In future AI Slop will be 'enjoyed' by phoney AI 'users' in a never-ending cycle that will serve only to suck money out of unsuspecting advertisers who think their message is being 'targeted' to real people.
Well I'm not going to be sad if that happens.
