Go watch some YouTube
If you haven't heard that The Company has recently altered its policies to the content creator's detriment, you probably have been asleep for days.
Basically it's another money grab for the already very wealthy corporation, another flim-flamming of the advertisers, and of course another kick in the teeth for anyone who makes videos for them. So ... news, but not new.
Now there are numerous creators complaining about this, and rightly so. They're making lots of videos about this latest shafting. (Well let's face it; the model has never been very good and it's unlikely to get any better.) So I have a suggestion:
Go watch a video about it.
No: go watch all the videos about it. And give 'em a 'thumbs up' and make a comment. Pushing all these anti-Yutztube videos to the top of the suggested heap would be wonderfully poetic, although I doubt anything will come of it.
I mean, I mean ... If one person goes into the corporate headquarters, sings a bar of Alice's Restaurant, and walks out they'll think he's a weirdo and they won't listen to him. If two people do it, they'll think they're both nuts and they won't pay attention to either of them. But if fifty people do it ... Can you imagine fifty people a day walking into corporate headquarters, singing a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out? Why then friends they'll think it's a movement!
And that's what it is: The Alice's Restaurant Anti-corporate Greed Movement!
(I'm sure Mr. Guthrie won't mind my parodying his work for this, and no I'm not a 'YouTuber'.)
