Here's the beef
So there has been a little problem with beef prices here in Canada - over a period of several years. As a result, the government has reached a 'settlement' with certain agencies it found responsible. The dollar amount is $8 million. Who gets a share? Technically anyone who bought beef within the time frame of the action. Now since we all didn't keep our receipts for every burger bought years ago, there's some question as to how the settlement will be divvied out. Let's see; a population of 40 million. Pretend half of them are eligible for the payout. That's 8 million divided by 20 million or ... Every other person gets 40 cents. Yeah; that seems fair. What will probably happen is some judge will see the silliness of this and order the money to go to food banks or a nutrition program like school lunches. That would be so much more sensible.
