Hey, Canner; I asked you a question!
I must be really bored: I tried to search for an inexpensive Linux laptop again. Maybe I'm insane as I keep doing the same thing expecting different results.
Anyway, the web site in question has an AI agent you can ask questions of pursuant to the item you're looking at. So I asked if it was Linux capable. The response was underwhelming. It basically regurgitated the specs but in narrative form, and then made a point of there being no mention of Linux capability. Well, duh; I can read you know.
But wait! There's more!
After that non-answer it hallucinated about how many people in fact run Linux on laptops. Again, I already know this and have done it myself.So what did this AI 'helper' actually do?
Absolutely nothing of any value whatsoever. Possibly less than that, as an inexperienced shopper might have taken the second part of the answer as an endorsement of running Linux on this particular machine. Since that may not actually work, anyone who interpreted the answer that way and bought one only to be disappointed would be out money and time. All for nought. AI is definitely not good at even simple answers, never mind 'reviews'.\
AI isn't intelligent, but it sure is artificial.
It's also not only useless, but potentially harmful. That, and only that, is the real evaluation of AI.
