Okay I am putting this right out in public: arguably the 'sketch' is better than the original photo. Here's why I think that:
The photo is fine as a snapshot. If it were meant to be art it would have been done differently (in my opinion). Some of the elements that have been 'left out' of the sketch are actually distracting.
The sketch is impressionistic and very much a work of art. It shows only the essential elements of the scene with nothing superfluous. The viewer probably wouldn't recognise the street corner from it, but that's irrelevant; they will get a feel for being there. If there's one distracting bit it's the sign lettering.
Not all art is photo-realistic nor should it be. Don't sell yourself short because you think your work isn't up to snuff: artists are always their own worst critics.
There. I said it. Go ahead and flog me for liking the work.
