Yes, friend; I get it. It seems some people do not understand that the story needs a conclusion, not a sequel.
Can you imagine the future when Fast & Furious 9,876,432 comes out?
Okay, full confession; I am also an offender. Although fortunately none of you will ever have to endure reading my works (they are not written for public consumption). However I have to admit that what started out as a continuation of an existing work whose ending I felt was premature (oh the situational irony!) turned into ... a ridiculously rambling, multi-layer thread of inter-related tales which I can find no end to!
But that doesn't matter; I'm not a professional and I'm not directing any sort of franchise. Those people need to learn that sometimes the tale has been told; it doesn't go on from there, it doesn't need to be 'revisited', it doesn't need to be expanded on.
On the whole when they do this they are just 'milking the franchise' to see how much more money they can squeeze out of the fans, and the quality of the productions doesn't matter anymore. Yeah; you know to what I refer.
The best we can do is not fall for it. The same characters having to fight the new 'ultimate villain' in a tired re-hash of mindless special effects and very little plot or dialog is a kind of sadism we don't need to subject ourselves to.
