Too little too late, or Stupid Government
Last week the Premier said no state of emergency was needed. A couple of days later it suddenly was.
Today we find that the military "has been put on standby", whatever that means.
Gee, I don't know. Do ya think maybe they could have learned something in the past decade of the place catching fire every Summer? Do ya think maybe the military could have been trained to actually help? Do ya think maybe we should take our wonderful leaders and drop them in the middle of a fire zone so they can see what it's like?
In all this time they've learned nothing about dealing with the logistics of the inevitable evacuations.
But fortunately they've spent millions on reinforcing buildings against the earthquakes that never happen.
You literally could drag anyone in off the street and they'd have a better understanding of what to do than the people who are in charge do.
